In this earthquake that took place in the eastern and southeastern regions of Türkiye, cities such as Kahramanmaras, Gaziantep, Hatay, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Sanliurfa, Malatya, Adana, Osmaniye, Kilis were damaged to a small or large extent. Kusadasi, located in the west of Türkiye, was not affected by this earthquake and is a city quite far from the earthquake zone. Another major earthquake in recent years occurred in Izmir on October 30, 2020, with a magnitude of 6.8. In this earthquake, which lasted approximately 18 seconds, Kusadasi, which is 85 km away from Izmir, did not suffer any damage in this earthquake. After the earthquakes, building inspections were started throughout Türkiye, not earthquake-resistant buildings were detected, and a decision was made to demolish them.
